Justice Elizabeth Bennett was appointed to the Federal Court on 20 December 2024.
Justice Bennett graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Arts and with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) in 2003. Her Honour was admitted as a legal practitioner to the Supreme Court of Victoria in 2005 and practiced as a solicitor at Allens, where she specialised in commercial litigation.
In 2009, her Honour signed the Bar Roll in Victoria in 2009 and was appointed Senior Counsel in 2021. She practiced in the areas of administrative law, commercial law, and regulatory law.
Justice Bennett was Vice President of the Victorian Bar in 2023 and 2024 and briefly President of the Bar in 2024.
Associateship applications
Applications for the position of Associate to Justice Bennett commencing in January 2026 should be sent to chambers (via an email to the Chambers of Justice Bennett) by 30 June 2025.
Applications should take the form of a covering letter, CV and university transcript. Applicants with experience in legal practice will be preferred. Interviews with shortlisted applicants will be conducted in August 2025.
