Activities in Fiji

The Federal Court worked closely with its colleagues in Fiji between 2004-07.

In 2004-5, AusAID funded the Pacific Governance Support Program which enabled the Federal Court to undertake a judicial administrative process diagnostic study. Following the study, the Fiji Chief Justice and Registrar attended training in Australia to assist in implementing key recommendations from the study. Case Management Workshops were also held in Suva for High Court judges and court officers.

In 2005, as part of the NZAID and AusAID funded Interim Regional Judicial Development Program, an alternative dispute resolution workshop was held in Suva for judges, court staff and legal professionals from Fiji, Cook Islands, Niue and Kiribati. The Court has also provided assistance to the apex court library in Fiji.
