Activities in the Federated States of Micronesia

The Federal Court has worked with a number of states in the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) since 2005 as part of the Interim Regional Judicial Development Program, funded jointly by NZAID and AusAID, and the Pacific Judicial Development Programme, funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT). Some of the activities included court annexed mediation, decision making, and regional orientation workshops.

FSM was also involved in the AusAID-funded Pacific Regional Mediation Program in 2009 and Pacific Judicial Capacity Development Program 2012. These activities focused on sentencing, alternative dispute resolution and commercial case management.
