Promoting Mediation across the Pacific 2009-10

Funded by AusAID, the Federal Court continued to support mediation in the Pacific region, hosting two regional mediation fora. The First Pacific Regional Mediation Forum was held in 2009, and the Second Pacific Regional Mediation Forum was held in 2010.

15 judges and court officials from eight Pacific countries attended each forum which was designed to facilitate the sharing of progress, challenges and solutions among participants. Led by two experienced mediators from the Federal Court, and involving several judges, each forum also provided practical workshops to the participants who came from Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Samoa, Tonga, the Marshall Islands and the Kosrae State in the Federated States of Micronesia.
