Activities in Sri Lanka

In 2004 the Federal Court co-facilitated a workshop in Sri Lanka to discuss the issues and challenges of the court structure in a federal constitution. The workshop engaged with Sri Lankan judges and facilitated exchange of information on Australia’s experience and the impact of federalism on the organisation and function of the judicial system.

The Federal Court welcomed visits in March 2011 from the Secretary of the Ministry of Justice in Canberra to discuss case management, including alternative dispute resolution, and in April 2013 by the Sri Lankan senior prosecutors in partnership with Sri Lanka’s Supreme Court and International Legal Assistance Branch as part of the Commonwealth Attorney General’s Department Professional Pairing program.
