Activities in Thailand

The Federal Court has been engaging with the Courts in Thailand since 2003, when several AusAID funded workshops were conducted with the Central Tax Court, the Central Intellectual Property and International Trade Court. The purpose of each workshop was to consider efficient and effective means of managing cases. Later that year, judges from the Central Tax Court came to Australia to visit the Federal Court to continue discussions on improving the management of tax cases.

A delegation from the Court in February 2004 visited Thailand under the auspices of the Thailand-Australia Government Sector Linkages Program to conduct a needs assessment of the Central Bankruptcy Court and Central Administrative Court and in February 2007 the Court also hosted a delegation led by the President of the Supreme Administrative Court of Thailand. In February and May 2009 the Court hosted a delegation of 50 Thailand Court Officers and a delegation of 33 judges and senior staff from the Central Administrative Court, respectively.

The Federal Court furthered its partnership with Thailand by hosting a delegation led by the Vice President of the Supreme Administrative Court in 2014. The visit was part of a training course on Administrative Law for Thai Executives involved in decision making processes.
