Paul Elias Anastassiou was appointed to the Federal Court of Australia on 1 February 2019.

Justice Anastassiou graduated from the University of Melbourne with Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (Honours) in 1982. He was admitted to practice in Victoria in 1985. His Honour practised as a solicitor with Phillips Fox & Masel (now DLA Piper) before joining the Victorian Bar in 1987. At the Bar, his Honour practised broadly in the commercial jurisdiction, with an emphasis on insolvency, banking, corporations matters, professional negligence and class actions.

Justice Anastassiou served as Chairman of Barristers’ Chambers Limited from 2003 to 2008, and again in 2017. His Honour has also served in numerous positions at the Victorian Bar, including as President of the Bar Council in 2016, a Member of the Bar Council for six years, and Chairman of the Victorian Bar Audit and Finance Committee.
