Justice Feutrill was appointed to the Federal Court on 8 March 2022.

Justice Feutrill graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Law in 1996. Justice Feutrill attained a Masters of Laws from the University of Western Australia in 2007.

Justice Feutrill began his career as a barrister and solicitor in 1997 at a boutique litigation firm and later at Freehill Hollingdale & Page (now Herbert Smith Freehills). In 2002, he joined the Western Australian independent bar and thereafter, apart from a short period during which he worked in international arbitration with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s Paris office, he practiced solely as a barrister in commercial litigation and arbitration.

Justice Feutrill was appointed Senior Counsel in 2018. Justice Feutrill is an honorary fellow of the University of Western Australia Law School where he teaches International Commercial Arbitration and has also taught International Investment in Mineral Resources.

Associateship applications

Justice Feutrill has now selected his Associate for 2025.

Applications for the position of Justice Feutrill's Associate commencing in January 2027 are welcome and will also be advertised early 2026. Further information and the closing date for applications will be published on the Federal Court website at that time.
