Justice Cameron Moore was appointed to the Federal Court on 18 December 2024.

Justice Moore graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Arts in 1989 and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons I) in 1991. He was admitted as a legal practitioner in New South Wales in 1993 and was a solicitor and then Senior Associate at Freehills from 1993 to 1998. He was Associate to Justice WMC Gummow for 18 months in 1993 and 1994.

His Honour practised as a barrister from 1998 and was appointed Senior Counsel in 2011. As a barrister, he had a diverse commercial and regulatory practice, with particular focus on competition law and consumer protection, intellectual property, energy regulation and class actions. His Honour was Head of Banco Chambers from 2020 to 2024.

Associateship applications

Justice Moore’s chambers are staffed by two associates. Each position will typically be of 12 months’ duration. There is a vacant Associate position for February 2025 and Justice Moore is seeking applications for this position now.

Justice Moore is also seeking applications for Associate positions for 2026, which could include a commencement date not at the beginning of 2026.

Justice Moore will receive applications from those who will be recent graduates, and also from those who will have one or more years of post-graduation experience.
